The Truth: White Supremacist Groups Behind Arizona Immigration Law

Rep. Linda Sanchez, D-Calif., told a Democratic Club on Tuesday that white supremacist groups are influencing lawmakers to adopt laws that will lead to discrimination. (including the AZ Immigration Law).

I spoke with Representative Sanchez’s office on 3 June, 4 June, and again on 9 June demanding that she supply her references to the allegations of white supremacist groups being involved in lawmaking actions. Spokesperson for Rep. Sanchez finally said on 9 June, the Congresswoman was referencing an article written by Southern Poverty Law Center 28 April, 2010 during her white supremacist remarks.

In the article Mary Bauer of Southern Poverty Law Center accuses Pioneer Fund of funneling $1.2 Million to Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) and went on to accuse FAIR lawyers for drafting the AZ legislation.

Spoke with Zach at Federation for American Immigration Reform today (10 June, 2010) and asked if FAIR received any funds in any amount from Pioneer Fund? And, did FAIR lawyers draft Arizona’s Immigration Bill?

Zach said, the last time FAIR received funds from Pioneer was back in the 1990’s and yes, FAIR provided technical support to Arizona Lawmakers but did not write the law.

The Article, Arizona Immigration Law Violates Constitution, Guarantees Racial Profiling, By Mary Bauer, SPLC Legal Director, published on Southern Poverty Law Center’s website is misleading, and inaccurate. Federation for American Immigration Reform has had no involvement with Pioneer Fund since the 1990’s and FAIR did not write the Arizona Legislation as accused.

Bauer states in her article, “The legislation was sponsored by state Senator Russell Pearce, who once e-mailed an anti-Semitic article from the neo-Nazi National Alliance website to supporters.” Show me someone that hasn’t emailed controversial articles to people. This doesn’t demonstrate that Senator Pearce supports anti-Semitic, all it means is that Pearce emailed an article he found offensive and he wanted to share this disgusting material with his supporters with comments.

Bottom Line; Mary Bauer of the Southern Poverty Law Center took half truths and twisted them to fit her Progressive Agenda. Federation for American Immigration Reform is not a White Supremacist Group; they may have differing opinions from Bauer and her progressive friends but that in itself doesn’t make an organization a hate group. She owes her readers and the American People an apology for deceiving the public.

Conclusion; Representative Sanchez was less than honest when making her outlandish remarks. In my opinion she made the comments and when challenged her staff had to come up with a source for her radical comments.
